The season came to life last night with the preliminary round of the Presidents Cup. Baggies grabbed the headlines by ambushing league champions Thurmaston 1 in their own backyard. New boys Kings Arms 3 made light work of Thurmaston 3 while third tier Beacon 1 were true to their league form, blowing Division 2's Nags Head Lions clean out of the water ... literally. On a bad night for cats, Blaby Tigers failed to roar against a lively Glenhills 1 and the Rutland Panthers only just squeaked through at Coleorton, courtesy of some novice pointing to savour. The Division 4 hopefuls from Asfordby had their chips in a reality check at the Malt Shovel and Queniborough Spartans get a chance to bring the new campaign to life with a fortuitous walkover
